Transcription: Subcutaneous injections are used to place medicine in the tissue directly below the skin. The needle is inserted at a 45 degree angle to the skin. Subcutaneous injections are most commonly given in the outer portions of the upper arms, the upper back, the belly, the back just above the buttocks, and the front portion of the thighs.
